Major fire at the Sloviansk Oil Refinery

According to the monitoring group «Crimean Wind», satellite images captured a thick plume of smoke stretching for more than 100 kilometres. This refinery is one of the key facilities for the supply of fuel, particularly to the temporarily occupied Crimea.
«Following the strike on the Sloviansk oil refinery, a massive fire broke out, engulfing a significant part of the plant’s premises,» the experts note.
In addition to the plant itself, there is a possibility that other strategic facilities in the Slovyansk-on-Kuban area have also come under attack. Satellite images suggest possible fires or explosions at the airfield, oil production facilities, the oil depot and the electricity substation in the village of Poltava. However, there is as yet no independent confirmation of these facts.
