Ukraine lacked Patriot missiles during Russian attacks
During the massive Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, Ukraine faced a critical shortage of missiles for its Patriot. This is reported by the publication Financial Times.
Details of the situation
According to the FT, last month, individual launchers Patriot were actually left without ammunition.
Because of this, they could not intercept the ballistic missiles used by Russia to attack energy facilities.
The lack of air defence capabilities significantly hampered the protection of critical infrastructure, which affects the stability of energy supply and the safety of the civilian population.
Context.
The issue of supplying Ukraine with missiles for modern air defence systems remains a key one in negotiations with partners from USA, EU і NATO.
Against the backdrop of Russia's regular missile and drone attacks, strengthening air defence is one of the main factors in the country's energy and national security.
