In Kryvyi Rih The number of people affected by the Russian attack on 21 August continues to rise. As of 19:00, 103 people had been injured, including 11 children.
Medical staff have assessed the condition of 27 of the injured as serious. Three children are among those seriously injured.
One of them, A 14-year-old girl is being transferred by the intensive care team to the regional children’s hospital. She was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury.
The death toll from the Russian attack stands at six people.
Russia attacked Kryvyi Rih in two waves
Russian troops attacked Kryvyi Rih with attack drones in two waves. Following the first strike, a major fire broke out at the site. Rescue workers, paramedics and other emergency services arrived at the scene.
After about Half an hour after the first strike, Russia launched a second attack, whilst rescue workers were already at the scene.
Commenting on the attack, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, described such strikes by Russia as acts of terrorism and called on international partners to step up pressure on the aggressor.
«Such attacks by the Russian Federation are nothing short of a terrorist act. And the international community must respond accordingly — by exerting real pressure on the aggressor. For there to be peace, Russia must be held truly accountable,» said Zelenskyy.
The emergency rescue operation is ongoing
At the site of the Russian strike, operations are continuing emergency rescue operation. Rescue workers are inspecting the damaged premises and clearing up the aftermath of the attack.
Units of the State Emergency Service, medical staff and other emergency services are involved in the operation. The injured are being given the necessary medical care, and some of them have been hospitalised.
As the search and rescue operations have not yet been completed, the number of casualties may vary.
