Russian aircraft attacked Sumy region

On 28 April 2026, Russian aviation struck the Yampil community in Sumy region with guided aerial bombs. According to local authorities, the shelling damaged civilian infrastructure, including a kindergarten and several residential buildings. No people were found under the rubble, but four residents sought medical assistance.

Rescuers promptly arrived at the scene and inspected the area. According to preliminary data, there are no people under the rubble of the destroyed buildings. At the same time, the SES began emergency restoration work to ensure the safety of residents and minimise the consequences of the attack.

Damage to civilian infrastructure

The attack on the Yampil community with guided aerial bombs once again demonstrated that Russian forces continue to target civilian objects. Social institutions were particularly affected: a kindergarten was damaged and rendered unusable. Residential buildings where local residents lived were also destroyed.

Local authorities are already working to help the victims and arrange temporary accommodation for those who have been left homeless. Doctors provided the necessary assistance to four of the injured, their condition is assessed as stable.

The work of rescue services

After the attack, the State Emergency Service units arrived at the scene promptly. Rescuers conducted a thorough inspection of the destroyed buildings, checking for people under the rubble. According to reports, no one was found under the rubble, indicating that people had evacuated quickly or had successfully organised shelters.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine is engaged in emergency repair work to prevent further damage and ensure the safety of residents.
