The Ukrainian military has officially stated that there is no threat of a semi-surrounding of the city of Sumy. Russian troops have not made any breakthroughs, and the front line remains stable.
Official position of the Ukrainian forces
The Joint Forces Group and the Kursk Military Group issued a joint statement on the situation around Sumy. According to the command, there are no grounds to talk about the city being surrounded or semi-surrounded.
The military stressed that all the «dreams» about Russian troops covering or blocking Sumy are not true. The situation is under control, and any attempts by the enemy to break through the defences have been stopped.
Current situation at the border
According to the Joint Forces Group, after months of attempts, the Russians managed to occupy only a few border villages - Hrabovske and Miropilske. The occupiers' depth of control in this area is up to 3-4 km.
Sumy is more than 35 km away from the seized villages. Thus, the city is out of immediate danger of attack or blockade.
No breakthroughs or threats to the city
The Kursk group of troops stressed that the situation in their area of responsibility remains under control. The enemy did not take any actions that could be considered breakthroughs or preparations for the encirclement of Sumy.
Any claims of a semi-surrounding of the city are unfounded, and Ukrainian forces continue to hold their positions.
Official comments and information for residents
The military urged citizens not to panic and to trust only official reports. Information on the situation at the border is updated regularly and is available to everyone.
