It became known that the head of the military medical commission was detained in Berehove hospital. Cash worth about UAH 11 million was seized from the official. According to sources, he was involved in issuing fake certificates to conscripts.
Detention of the head of the HQC
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, on 20 April 2026, the head of the military medical commission was detained in Zakarpattia. During the search, the official was found to have significant amounts of cash in different currencies.
Sources indicate that these are Vladimir Pauk, who headed the MEC at the Berehove hospital. He is charged with issuing fictitious certificates of «limited fitness for military service».
Seized funds during the search
During the search, over 240 thousand US dollars, over 3 thousand euros, almost 1.3 million forints and over 260 thousand hryvnias were seized. The total amount of the seized funds is about UAH 11 million in local currency.
The Prosecutor General's Office reported that the seized funds were kept in cash. This may indicate the scale and systematic nature of the illegal activity.
Bribery scheme
According to sources, the official received $6,000 from conscripts for issuing fake medical certificates. Such documents allowed avoiding conscription for health reasons.
There are no official comments on the number of people who have benefited from this scheme. The investigation is ongoing and details are expected to be made public later.
Reaction and further actions
The Prosecutor General's Office stated that the issue of a preventive measure for the detainee would be decided in the near future. According to the investigation, the official's actions may be classified as obtaining an unlawful benefit.
