The drone strikes caused large-scale fires at the local market, on the factory premises and in the private residential area. Rescue workers had to carry out their work under the constant threat of further attacks.

In Sloviansk, Russian drones struck a residential area and the market district. Local authorities report that during the night-time attack, the Russian Federation used seven «Molniya-2» drones». According to the Sloviansk City Administration, a non-residential building has been damaged and dozens of market stalls have been destroyed. There are no civilian casualties.

Twenty market stalls were on fire in Sloviansk

One of the Russian strikes caused a fire at a local market. The fire spread to a non-residential building and around 20 retail pavilions.

Rescue workers extinguished the fire, which had spread over a total area of 520 square metres. The firefighters were working in conditions of constant danger, as there was a continuing threat of further Russian strikes.

At the same time, the head of the Sloviansk Municipal Administration Vadym Lyakh provided further details on the consequences of the night-time attack: according to his information, as a result of the strikes in the area around the market 60 shopping centres have been destroyed. This figure likely includes not only the pavilions engulfed in flames, but also structures destroyed directly by the explosions.

According to the city authorities, Russia attacked Sloviansk twice during the night, using seven «Molniya-2» drones. Strikes were recorded in the residential area and at the market.

A fire broke out at the factory, covering an area of 1,200 square metres

Another Russian strike hit the premises of a local business.

The attack caused a fire hangar, and the area affected by the fire reached approximately 1,200 square metres. The rescue services managed to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further.

However, it was not possible to fully extinguish the fire straight away. Due to the risk of a second flare-up, the State Emergency Service personnel were forced to temporarily evacuate the dangerous area.

Situations like this are becoming increasingly common for rescue workers in Kramatorsk and Sloviansk: during previous attacks, firefighters have also had to suspend their fire-fighting operations due to repeated shelling.

A private house caught fire in Kramatorsk

The following also came under Russian attack: Kramatorsk.

Following shelling of the residential area, a fire broke out in a house and an outbuilding. Emergency services arrived at the scene and brought the fire under control.

However, the completion of the work also had to be postponed due to the risk of a further attack. The threat of further strikes has been regularly hampering the work of the State Emergency Service units in recent days in Kramatorsk. During previous attacks on the city, the emergency services had already been forced to suspend their fire-fighting operations for the same reason.

In the past 24 hours alone, Russian troops have attacked Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Druzhkivka and other towns and villages in the Donetsk region with aerial bombs and drones. The police reported damage to at least 15 civilian sites.

A new series of strikes once again took place mainly in residential developments, retail premises and businesses, whilst the rescue workers had to deal with the aftermath whilst at risk of further attacks.
