According to a report by the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration dated 19 July, Russian forces have been making intensive use of guided aerial bombs in the region: in the 24 hours leading up to that date alone, the Regional Military Administration recorded 17 guided aerial bombs and strikes on 24 settlements. This figure does not include the current attack on Izium.
Izyum has already come under combined attack from KAB bombs and drones this year. In May, the authorities reported damage to educational establishments, high-rise blocks, a non-residential building and private homes.
What might change for postal services
Any disruption to the cargo area may temporarily affect the receipt, sorting or dispatch of bulky items. However, there have been no specific reports of changes to the timetable, the re-routing of parcels or decisions regarding the operation of the facility in Izium.
The prompt fire-fighting efforts reduced the risk of the fire spreading; however, it is not possible to assess the material damage or the technical condition of the premises without a separate inspection. Against the backdrop of regular attacks on the city, this incident highlights the risks to civilian logistics infrastructure.
