On 5 September, a Russian jet-powered drone attacked Boryspil in the Kyiv region. According to preliminary reports from the scene, the drone struck a high-rise residential block, after which a fire broke out on the upper floors and the roof. Prior to the strike, local official and monitoring channels had warned of jet-powered UAVs heading directly for Boryspil.

The jet-powered drones were heading straight for Boryspil

An air raid alert was issued again this evening in the Boryspil district due to the threat of Russian attack drones.

At around 11.30 pm, the official channel of the Boryspil community reported that jet-powered UAVs that were heading towards Boryspil. Prior to this, the movement of such drones from the Chernihiv region towards Brovary and Boryspil had also been recorded.

Local sources also reported explosions in the Kyiv region and Russian drone activity in the vicinity of the city.

A high-rise block caught fire after being hit

According to preliminary reports, one of the jet-powered drones struck a residential block of flats in Boryspil directly.

Footage from the scene shows fire in the upper part of the building and damage to the roof. The flames have spread to the upper floor’s structure.

At the time of publication, the official authorities had not yet released full details regarding the extent of the fire, the number of flats damaged or any possible casualties. Staff from the State Emergency Service have already brought the fire under control.

Boryspil has been under attack for several days running

Boryspil and the Boryspil district have come under regular attack from Russian missiles and drones in recent days.

On 3 September alone, dozens of civilian facilities were damaged in the Kyiv region. In Boryspil district These included a block of flats, some warehouse premises, a shop and a car. One man was injured.

On the night of 1 September, Boryspil also came under a large-scale attack, which damaged residential buildings and businesses, killed people and left dozens of residents injured.
