Firefighters are putting out a fire near the damaged vehicle
Footage released from the scene of the blast shows flames and thick smoke rising above the sorting terminal. Emergency services are working near the damaged freight vehicles and extinguishing the fires.
Once the fire has been extinguished, experts will be able to inspect the premises, equipment and vehicles to assess the extent of the damage. However, the type of weaponry used by the Russian army to carry out the attack has not yet been disclosed.
Details of staff and consignments are still being finalised
It is not yet known whether the terminal’s staff were taking shelter at the time of the attack or whether any of them were injured. There are also no official figures on the number of consignments destroyed or damaged.
«Nova Poshta» has not yet announced how the attack will affect parcel processing and delivery times in Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding region. In previous similar incidents, the company diverted parcel flows to backup logistics facilities; however, this does not mean that the same procedure has already been implemented following the current attack.
Previous attacks on the company’s facilities
This is not the first attack on «Nova Poshta» facilities» in Zaporizhzhia. In March, a Russian strike damaged the innovative «SICH» terminal: staff at the facility sustained injuries and concussions. According to the company, following that attack, the processing of consignments was redirected to other sites.
Another terminal belonging to the logistics company was attacked on 2 July. The following day, FPV drones damaged Branch No. 7, where 50-year-old driver Valery Gafikin was killed. At the time, the company stated that it had quickly reorganised its routes and did not expect any delays in deliveries.
The city’s logistics are under constant threat
The series of attacks in March, June and July, as well as the latest strike, may indicate an ongoing threat to Zaporizhzhia’s postal and logistics infrastructure. At the same time, there is no reason to believe that all the strikes were directed at a single target or carried out using the same type of weaponry.
Customers will understand the actual consequences of the current attack once the company has issued its statements. Residents of Zaporizhzhia should also keep an eye out for official warnings from the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration and the State Emergency Service regarding air threats.
