Vereshchuk says Telegram should be restricted in Ukraine

Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Iryna Vereshchuk said that Ukraine should consider restricting the functioning of the Telegram and other anonymous platforms in the information space during the war.

What Vereshchuk said.

According to her, today's terrorist attack in Lviv again raises the issue of the enemy's use of the messenger.

«The enemy is systematically using Telegram to recruit terrorists, coordinate their activities and carry out terrorist attacks,» she stressed.

Vereshchuk emphasised that if it is necessary to limit the capabilities of such platforms to protect the lives of Ukrainians and national security, the state should be ready to make appropriate decisions.

Context.

Ukrainian law enforcement agencies have previously reported attempts to recruit citizens through messengers for subversive activities.

The issue of possible regulation or restriction of anonymous platforms is periodically raised against the backdrop of security threats during the war.
