Detention of ex-rector
The prosecutor's office announced the detention of Mykhailo Poplavsky, who previously headed the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts. He is suspected of involvement in the organisation of a scheme to embezzle budget funds together with officials of the university and the Ministry of Education.
The operation was carried out as part of an investigation into fraudulent financing of the university in 2022-2023.

The investigation established that university officials, in collusion with officials of the Ministry of Education, artificially increased the number of students and employees.
This allowed them to receive larger amounts of state funding. In two years, the institution illegally received about UAH 760 million from the budget.
