Options for Ukrainians in the EU
Temporary protection allows Ukrainians to legally stay, work and receive social benefits in the EU.
The following scenarios are possible after 2027:
- complete termination of temporary protection;
- extension of the protection for another year;
- adoption of a new unified decision on the status of Ukrainians.

Temporary protection for Ukrainians in the EU was introduced in 2022 after Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.
The protection provides for simplified conditions of stay and access to the labour market for Ukrainian citizens fleeing the war.
