President of the United States Donald Trump in an interview Financial Times announced the possibility of seizing Iranian oil under the Venezuelan scenario. He also said that negotiations with Iran are ongoing, but threatened to strike the country's energy sector if an agreement to end the war is not reached by 6 April.
Trump threatens Iran with Venezuela scenario
In a new interview, US President Donald Trump said that the US could seize Iran's oil infrastructure, similar to the actions in Venezuela. He noted that one option is to seize the Khark Island, through which most of Iran's oil is exported.
Trump emphasised: «We may or may not take Khark Island. We have many options». He also added that US forces could easily take control of this strategic facility.
Negotiations and an ultimatum for Tehran
Despite the harsh statements, Trump reported progress in indirect talks with Iran mediated by Pakistani representatives. According to him, Iran has agreed to most of the 15 points plan to end the war, proposed by the United States.
Trump has set Iran a deadline of 6 April to reach a deal. If no agreement is reached, the US will strike at Iran's energy sector.
