An element of a private innovative air defence system based on remotely operated machine guns has started operating in Ukraine Browning M2.

How the new air defence system works

According to Sergey Beskrestnov, The system is based on remotely controlled firing points.

Main features:

  • use of heavy machine guns
  • remote control
  • Integration with surveillance systems
  • fast deployment

Such systems can effectively operate against air targets at low altitudes.

Protecting critical infrastructure

The main task of the new system is to cover important facilities:

  • energy infrastructure
  • industrial enterprises
  • logistics hubs

First of all, it is about protecting against drones and other aerial threats.

Air defence as a service for business

One of the key features is that the system can be used by the private sector.

Business representatives can:

  • order the deployment of protection
  • Integrate air defence into their own security infrastructure
  • Increase the level of protection of facilities

This actually forms a new segment - Air Defence as a Service.

Why it matters

Recently, the role of cheap aerial threats, in particular drones, has been growing.

Use of mobile and relatively inexpensive solutions:

  • increases the density of air defence
  • allows you to quickly close vulnerable areas
  • reduces the burden on conventional air defence systems

Experts believe that such solutions could become an important addition to the state air defence system.

 What's next

Analysts expect:

  • scaling of such systems
  • attracting more private companies
  • development of automation and target detection technologies

In the future, such solutions may become the standard for infrastructure protection.
