The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has released video and audio recordings from the phone of a suspect in the Kyiv terrorist attack. The recordings show aggressive statements and Nazi slogans during the attack.
Phone records made public
The Prosecutor General's Office announced the publication of video and audio recordings seized from the phone of the suspect in the shooting in Kyiv. On the recordings, the attacker shouts offensive language, including «Khokhol, schweine, zig heil».
He was also recorded threatening to «kill» people and shouting Nazi slogans. The publication of the materials was part of the investigation into the terrorist attack.
Chronology of events
According to the investigation, the incident began with a quarrel over an intercom in an apartment block. The attacker first wounded his neighbours with a non-lethal weapon, then set fire to his own apartment.
After setting the fire, the man armed himself with carbines and went outside, where he began shooting at passers-by. Law enforcement officers promptly arrived at the scene and launched a special operation.
Aggressive rhetoric of the attacker
In the published recordings, the attacker uses hate speech and Nazi symbols. He calls people «pigs» and states that he will «sprinkle the Slavic land with Jewish blood».
The investigation is looking into the motives for the attack, including a possible connection with ideological hatred. The Prosecutor General's Office has classified the actions as a terrorist attack.
