Ukraine is preparing changes to the system of contracts for military personnel, offering increased payments and new conditions of service. The draft contracts provide for a basic monthly payment of UAH 30,000 for privates, as well as a number of additional incentives for signing a contract, performing combat missions, and personal achievements.

Basic payments and incentives for the military

The new draft contracts for military personnel provide for a significant increase in financial incentives. In particular, the basic pay for the rank and file will start at 30 thousand hryvnias per month. In addition, the following are offered for signing the contract additional 10 thousand hryvnias per month. The contract also provides for an annual payment of UAH 27 thousand.

According to the information Ukrmedia, If the enemy is captured, the serviceman will be paid 250 thousand hryvnias, and for the destruction of the enemy - 25 thousand hryvnias. For performing tasks directly on the frontline, you can get up to UAH 8,700 per day. Detailed terms and conditions and list of benefits.

New contract terms and service periods

The projects propose a differentiated approach to contract terms. For active military personnel serving in combat companies, the minimum contract term will be 1 year. For other categories of servicemen, the minimum contractual service period will be 2 years.

In addition, after completing their service, they are entitled to a deferral from mobilisation. For each month of combat missions, three months of deferral will be granted. This approach aims to provide motivation for returning to civilian life and reduce the burden on the military after their release.

Additional incentives and social guarantees

The introduction of new payments and contractual conditions is intended to make military service more attractive. It provides for one-time and regular additional payments, as well as incentives for personal achievements in combat. This system encourages not only signing a contract, but also active participation in frontline tasks.

Support for the military after their service is also highlighted. Postponement of mobilisation will allow them to adapt to civilian life, which is important for maintaining psychological health and social stability among veterans.

Why it matters

Updated contracts and the payment system could have a significant impact on the recruitment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Increased financial incentives and flexible conditions of service could attract more people to military service and retain experienced soldiers.

A postponement after combat missions will help rehabilitate the military and reduce the risk of burnout. The introduction of clear and transparent rules on payments and contracts will increase trust in the defence system, ensuring stability and effectiveness in defending the country.
