Ukraine and Latvia prepare Drone Deal to protect the skies

Ukraine expects to sign a strategic agreement with Latvia in the format of a Drone Deal. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with his Latvian counterpart Edgars Rinkēvičs and proposed cooperation to strengthen the defence of both countries.

Presidents' talks: focus on protecting the sky

During the meeting Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Edgars Rinkevics discussed joint steps to strengthen airspace security. The Ukrainian leader proposed that Latvia sign an agreement in the Drone Deal format to create a multi-level system of protecting the sky from various types of threats. The agreement should be an important step in strengthening the defence capabilities of not only Ukraine but also the Baltic States.

On the official website of the Office of the President reported, Ukraine will send its experts to Latvia. They will assist Latvian partners in protecting airspace and sharing experience in countering modern threats.

Exchange of experience and joint defence

Ukrainian experts will travel to Latvia for practical knowledge exchange and direct participation in the development of the air defence system. Such cooperation will allow both countries to respond quickly to new challenges and improve the level of security over strategically important facilities.
