Three people were injured in Zaporizhzhia as a result of a nighttime attack by Russian UAVs. One house was destroyed, another damaged, and the blast wave hit neighbouring buildings.

Consequences of a drone attack

In Zaporizhzhia, three civilians were injured in a Russian drone attack. The explosions resulted in the complete destruction of one residential building, and another building was heavily damaged. A passenger car that was in the area of the explosion also caught fire nearby.

In addition to the main destruction, the debris and blast wave also hit neighbouring houses and other buildings. Local residents report broken windows, damaged roofs and facades, and partial destruction of outbuildings. Emergency responders are working at the scene to eliminate the consequences and protect the area from possible additional threats.

Rescuers' work and assistance to victims

In the first hours after the attack, the rescue services began to survey the area. The main task was to identify unexploded explosive devices that could have remained after the strike. The rescuers also provided the necessary assistance to three victims, who were hospitalised in local hospitals.

The SES notes that the priority is the safety of residents and minimising risks for those who remain near the site of the explosion. All the victims received first aid and their condition is being monitored by doctors. Local authorities have arranged temporary accommodation for people whose homes have become uninhabitable.

City response and further actions

The city administration urges residents to stay away from the scene and follow the instructions of the rescue services. According to ukrmedia.news, Rescuers continue to clear the rubble and check the surrounding areas for dangerous objects. Residents are asked to report any suspicious findings and not to attempt to inspect the ruins themselves.

Despite constant threats from Russian drones, the city continues to function. Utilities have already begun restoration work, and local authorities have promised support to affected families.

Why it matters

Russian drone attacks on residential areas of Ukrainian cities not only lead to the destruction of infrastructure, but also pose a direct threat to the lives of civilians. Zaporizhzhia has once again come under the gun, which underscores the need to strengthen the air defence system and provide prompt assistance to the victims. Each incident like this is a reminder of the cost of security for civilians and the importance of support from the state and society.
