Last night, the Moscow region suffered a record drone attack, the largest strike on Putin's main «possessions» in the entire war. The Russian Ministry of Defence reported the downing of more than five hundred drones in different regions, while the Ukrainian side announced even more large-scale attacks, including on Moscow itself.
The scale of the night attack
According to the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, that night over the Moscow region and other regions, the following were recorded record drone strikes. The Russian military reports «shooting down» 556 Ukrainian drones, the highest number for the entire period of the full-scale war.
Ukrainian adviser to the Ministry of Defence Sternenko he emphasised:
«This strike is only the beginning, and further attacks could be even more extensive, including strikes directly against Moscow.».
The report says that the strikes were aimed at the most strategically important facilities in Putin's so-called «possessions».
Reaction of the Russian side and official data
The Russian Ministry of Defence has released an official summary, which emphasises the «successful counteraction» to the attack. According to them, most of the drones were shot down on approach to the targets, but independent sources cannot yet fully confirm this information. Russian telegram channels reported at least several explosions in the Moscow region, indicating that some drones had broken through to the targets.
Ukraine's position and future prospects
According to Sternenko, Ukraine is preparing for even larger-scale operations using drones.
«It will be even bigger and will include Moscow itself,» the defence ministry adviser stressed.
According to him, the strikes on strategic targets deep in Russian territory are aimed at weakening Russia's military potential and forcing the leadership of the aggressor country to reconsider its tactics.
Why it matters
The night raid on the Moscow region was the largest in the entire war, which demonstrates A new level of capabilities of Ukrainian unmanned technologies. The scale and geography of the strike indicate that Ukraine is building up its capabilities to attack strategic targets far beyond the frontline. This could affect the security situation in Russia itself and increase pressure on the country's leadership.
