The tragedy occurred last week in a private household in the Khadzhibey district of Odesa. The 33-year-old partner of a 23-year-old woman was forcibly holding her friend in the basement of a garage. The victim received multiple blows with his hands and a rubber hose, after which he was handcuffed and strapped to a metal structure. The perpetrator tied his hands and feet with wires and gagged him to prevent him from screaming and asking for help.

Investigations and legal consequences
Law enforcement officers seized the crime weapon during the inspection of the scene. The detainee was served a notice of suspicion of ч. 2 of Article 146 (unlawful deprivation of liberty with physical suffering) and Article 127 (torture) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty for these articles is up to six years in prison.
The court imposed on the suspect a custody without the right to be released on bail. The investigative actions are ongoing under the procedural supervision of the Khadzhybeyskyi District Prosecutor's Office of Odesa.
