Mobilisation exercises in the Grodno region
Mobilisation exercises are continuing in the Grodno Region of Belarus, with the involvement of local military commissariats. The authorities have launched a mass notification campaign targeting citizens liable for military service, who are being summoned to military commissariats for a so-called «registration check» and to update their personal details.
It has been officially stated that these exercises are of a training nature and are designed to test the readiness of the mobilisation deployment system. According to preliminary figures, around two thousand people are expected to take part. During such checks, citizens have their personal details verified, their military registration documents checked, and may receive summonses to attend short-term training sessions.
At the same time, there have been no official statements regarding the mobilisation in Belarus There have been none so far. In recent months, the country has been regularly conducting military and mobilisation exercises near its western and southern borders. Against this backdrop, there remains heightened scrutiny of Minsk’s military activity due to its alliance with Russia and its participation in joint defence programmes.
Analysts note that such exercises may be aimed both at testing the readiness of the reserve forces and at demonstrating the country’s military capabilities. The Grodno Region borders Poland and Lithuania — member states NATO. Any intensification of mobilisation measures in this region attracts the attention of Ukraine’s neighbouring states and partners. Against the backdrop of Russia’s war against Ukraine, such exercises are seen as a factor contributing to further security tensions in the region.
