The situation in Sumy following the air strike
Russian troops launched a strike using guided aerial bombs on Sumy, scoring several hits. One of the infrastructure sites suffered the most damage, where rescue workers from Ukraine’s State Emergency Service promptly began search and rescue operations. They found two people on the upper floors of the destroyed building who required immediate assistance.
«The most difficult operation was the rescue of a woman who had been trapped under large concrete slabs. Despite the risk of further Russian strikes, the rescue workers managed to free the victim,» the State Emergency Service said.
The man was also rescued and received medical attention at the scene. According to preliminary reports, 11 people were injured as a result of the air strike. Details regarding the extent of the damage and the number of casualties are still being confirmed.
