EU tranche to fund MPs’ salaries

The salaries of Ukraine’s MPs are funded from the money the country receives from its European partners. Ruslan Gorbenko, a Member of Parliament from the «Servant of the People» faction, noted that the recent tranche of macro-financial assistance amounting to 3.2 billion euros, which has been transferred to the state budget, will also be partly used to fund these payments.

«MPs are paid from funds provided by our European partners. And the latest tranche of 3.2 billion euros will also go towards these salaries,» emphasised Gorbenko.

At the end of June, Ukraine officially received its first tranche amounting to 3.2 billion euros as part of a new large-scale lending programme from the European Union Ukraine Support Loan. The total budget for this programme for 2026–2027 is 90 billion euros, with funds allocated to support fiscal stability, the social sector and the strengthening of the country’s defence capabilities.

Gorbenko also noted that over the past five years, MPs’ salaries have not changed significantly; there has only been a scheduled annual indexation of around 4%. As a result, the average salary of a Member of Parliament currently stands at between 54,000 and 55,000 hryvnias.
