Fire at the «Crimea» terminal following a drone attack
In the temporarily occupied city of Kerch, following a night-time drone attack, a fire broke out at the «Crimea» ferry terminal. According to the «Crimean Wind» monitoring group, the blaze was captured on satellite imagery. The published images show the epicentre of a large-scale fire on the terminal’s premises.
Night-time explosions and air defence operations
Local residents reported numerous explosions, gunfire and drones flying overhead on the night of 4 July. Russian Telegram channels also noted that air defence systems were active in the area around the city. “The explosions could be heard throughout the city, and then we saw smoke rising above the terminal,” witnesses said.
No official information is available
At the time of publication, the Russian authorities had not confirmed reports that the ferry terminal had been hit, nor had they provided any information on the possible consequences of the incident. It is also currently unknown whether the fire has affected the operation of the ferry service and the logistics infrastructure.
Why it matters
The «Crimea» ferry terminal is an important logistics facility used for transport links and supplying the occupied Crimea. If the reports of the attack are confirmed, this could have a significant impact on the peninsula’s transport infrastructure. However, the reports of the attack are currently based on data from monitoring sources and require official confirmation.
