Night-time attack on Russian military installations

On the night of 5–6 July, units of the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces carried out a series of successful strikes on military targets in Russia and the occupied Crimea. According to the commander of the 414th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade Roberta Brovdi, known by the pseudonym «Madyar», 47 legitimate military targets were struck, including S-400 air defence systems, a radar station, an oil depot and fuel tankers.

Brovdi reported that during the attack, Ukrainian drone operators Two launchers belonging to the S-400 «Triumph» air defence missile system were destroyed». One system was destroyed at a firing position in the Bryansk region, the other at a base in occupied Crimea. These systems were used by Russian forces not only for air defence but also to launch ballistic missiles at ground targets.

Attacks on Crimea and the Sea of Azov

In addition, Ukrainian drones struck an oil depot in Kerch, the «Nebo-U» radar station and two Project 15781 tankers, which were transporting fuel from the Taganrog area to occupied Crimea. According to Brovdi, each vessel was carrying around 7,000 tonnes of fuel, equivalent to approximately 200 railway tankers.

47 military targets in a single night

The unit commander noted that, during the night, operators from the Unmanned Systems Forces had successfully engaged 47 legitimate military targets in the enemy’s rear and within operational depth. Among the most important targets were two fuel tankers, an oil depot in Kerch, the «Nebo-U» radar station and two launchers S-400 air defence system «Triumph».

Why it matters

If the reported results are officially confirmed, this will be one of the most successful strikes by the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces against Russian military infrastructure in recent times. The destruction of air defence systems, fuel infrastructure and logistics will directly impact Russia’s ability to carry out further large-scale attacks on Ukrainian territory.
