Smoke over the industrial and terminal zone

What could affect the operation of the terminals
The Taman Port Cluster is situated near the village of Volna, close to the Kerch Strait and the occupied Crimea. Among other facilities, the complex «Tamanneftegaz», designed for the transhipment of crude oil, petroleum products and liquefied hydrocarbon gases from rail to sea. Its total design capacity is 19.9 million tonnes per year.
The exact location of the fire on 30 July has not been established, so it is premature to link it to a specific terminal or piece of equipment. If the damage has affected operational units, this may require inspections and temporary restrictions on certain operations, but does not mean that the entire port will automatically cease operations.
Taman had already come under attack. In December 2025, according to the Russian operational headquarters, two jetties, two vessels and a supply pipeline were damaged. During the strike on 13 June 2026, a fire broke out at the marine terminal; the SBU reported at the time that five tanks containing petroleum products and two loading jetties belonging to «Tamanneftegaz» had been hit.
The actual impact of the current fire on cargo throughput can be gauged from operators’ reports, satellite imagery and changes in vessel movements at the quays.
Repeated attacks on the transhipment hub
A series of attacks over recent months points to a recurring risk to the fuel transhipment infrastructure on the Taman Peninsula. Previous incidents have affected both onshore processing facilities and jetties, vessels and pipeline infrastructure.
