A Russian drone struck a shop that was open for business

The attack on Sloviansk took place on the morning of 20 August. According to the head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Vadim Filashkin, at around 08:20, Russian troops attacked the town with a drone. The strike hit a shop.

At the time of the attack, the shop was open. Both staff and customers were inside. After the strike, a fierce fire broke out inside the building — photographs released show the building engulfed in flames and a thick column of black smoke.

According to updated figures from the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Three people were injured as a result of the attack on Sloviansk. Information on their condition is being updated.

At the same time, Russia attacked Kramatorsk

That same morning, Kramatorsk came under heavy attack. According to the Regional Military Administration, Russian forces carried out nine strikes on the city, reportedly using FAB-250 aerial bombs fitted with guidance and correction modules.

In Kramatorsk, retail premises and other civilian infrastructure were damaged. At least seven people were injured. In total, as a result of the morning attacks on Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, it is known that at least 10 injured.

Sloviansk continues to come under regular attack

The attack on 20 August was yet another blow to Sloviansk’s civilian infrastructure. As recently as 11 August Russian troops attacked a local market — six civilians were injured at that time.

Russian forces continue to regularly use attack drones, guided aerial bombs and other weapons against settlements in the Donetsk region. Local authorities are urging residents of the region not to ignore air raid alerts and, where possible, to evacuate to safer parts of Ukraine.
