A Russian attack on the night of 27 August completely destroyed the distribution centre of the «Budynok Igrashok» chain, according to the company’s CEO, Maria Nazarenko. The facility housed a significant proportion of children’s goods and was used to prepare daily deliveries to customers and shops across Ukraine. Staff took shelter; there were no fatalities or injuries amongst the staff.

Briefly about the main points

  • The network’s distribution centre has been completely destroyed by a Russian strike.
  • A significant proportion of the stock of children’s goods was in the warehouse.
  • Some of the orders that have already been placed may arrive late.
  • Refunds will be issued for orders cancelled due to the loss of goods.
  • The shops and the website are open, and the logistics are being reorganised.

The centre organised daily deliveries across Ukraine

According to Maria Nazarenko, the lost property was an important part of the company’s logistics system. Toys and other children’s goods were stored on its premises, from where they were distributed to retail outlets and dispatched to customers in various regions.

During the attack, all staff were taking shelter. The company reported that none of its employees were killed or injured.

Customers have been warned of possible delays

The destruction of the logistics hub has already affected the network’s internal operations. Some of the orders that have been processed may be delivered later than planned; the company promises to contact customers whose orders have been affected by the attack individually.

If a paid order has to be cancelled due to the loss of the goods, the customer will be refunded. Meanwhile, all high-street shops remain open, and the online shop is accepting new orders.

The company is reorganising its logistics following the loss of its distribution centre.

The extent of the damage is still being assessed following the attacks on the warehouses

«Toy House» did not specify the amount of financial losses, the area of the destroyed complex or the value of the goods that were inside. However, the company confirmed that a significant proportion of its stock was stored at the warehouse.

The attack took place against the backdrop of strikes on Ukrainian retail logistics facilities. On 22 August, a Russian attack damaged the distribution centre of the «Aurora»; its staff were also taking shelter. Following such losses, trading companies are having to reallocate stock, alter supply routes and seek additional warehouse space.
