Her daughter, aged around 12, was at home at the time of the blast. The child was found to have experienced an acute stress reaction, but did not require hospitalisation. No detailed information has been published regarding the condition or nature of the injuries sustained by the other victim.
The fire was put out amidst the rubble and under the threat of another strike
Units from the State Emergency Service, a community rescue officer and municipal vehicles were at the scene. The rescue workers extinguished the fire whilst working amongst the collapsed structures and rubble of the buildings.
Work was carried out amid the threat of a repeat attack. Russia has recently been making regular use of jet-powered attack drones against Kharkiv and regions; their higher speed reduces the response time following the detection of an aerial target. On 27 August, the Air Force urged people not to ignore the air raid alert and to remain in shelters until the all-clear was given due to the movement of such drones.
