The vessel was heading for a Ukrainian port
According to official reports, the attack took place on 17 September whilst a civilian vessel was underway to one of Ukraine’s ports.
The Ministry confirmed that the strike was carried out by a Russian UAV. The Ministry did not specify the name of the vessel, its exact port of destination or the nationality of the crew members.
Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration Oleg Kiper reported that as a result of the attack the superstructure and deck of the vessel were damaged.
The captain was killed and three sailors were injured

Official Ukrainian authorities have not yet provided any information regarding a higher death toll or more than ten injured did not confirm.
The condition of the vessel is still being assessed
The Ministry has reported that information regarding the technical condition of the vessel that was attacked to be confirmed.
The ministry emphasised that the Russian attacks on Ukrainian ports, port infrastructure and civilian merchant vessels pose additional risks to crews and international shipping in the Black Sea.
The Ministry also stated that Ukraine is continuing to work with international partners to strengthen the protection of civilian shipping and maritime logistics routes.
