Russians have struck a business centre in Odesa: the building has caught fire and one person has been injured

On the night of 1 October, Russian troops attacked Odesa once again. Civilian infrastructure, including a business centre, came under fire. As a result of the attack, the roofs and façades of two buildings were damaged, and walls on the fifth floor were partially destroyed. A fire broke out at the scene. At least one person is known to have been injured. The Odesa City Military Administration has confirmed that the city’s infrastructure was targeted.

A business centre caught fire in Odessa following an attack

Late in the evening of 30 September, explosions were heard in Odesa. The Air Force had warned of a threat from drones heading towards the city from the direction of the Black Sea.

Following the attack, the head of the Odessa MBA Sergey Lysak reported damage to the city’s infrastructure. Local sources also reported a strike and a major fire at one of the city’s business centres.

Units from the State Emergency Service were at the scene. The fire engulfed the upper part of the building, as can be seen in the photos released by the rescue services.

The roof, façade and walls have been damaged

According to preliminary reports, the roof and façade of two buildings were damaged as a result of the Russian strike. The walls on the fifth floor of one of the buildings were partially destroyed. A fire broke out following the strike and was extinguished by the emergency services.

There are also reports of one casualty. Details regarding the casualty’s condition and the full extent of the damage are still being ascertained. As a result of the night-time attack on Odesa, there is at least one person injured, and the city has suffered damage to its infrastructure.

Russia continues to target civilian infrastructure in Odessa

Odessa regularly suffers attacks Russian missiles and drones. Residential buildings, businesses, and port, energy and commercial infrastructure are coming under attack. On this occasion, one of the damaged sites was a business centre. Emergency services and municipal authorities are continuing to survey the area and deal with the aftermath.
