The terms of the deal remain confidential

Koizumi confirmed the agreement at a press conference, whilst the press office SkyFall confirmed this in a comment to *Ukrainska Pravda*. Company representatives did not disclose the details of the contract.

P1-SUN and JetKiller: what is known about the SkyFall interceptors

SkyFall develops and manufactures unmanned systems. The company’s products include the Vampire heavy-strike drones, the Shrike FPV drones and the P1-SUN family of interceptors, designed to counter enemy drones. The range includes variants featuring artificial intelligence modules and enhanced flight performance.

One of the company’s latest developments is the P1-SUN JetKiller — a high-speed version designed to combat jet-powered strike drones. Reuters reported that its claimed speed reaches 370 km/h, whilst the standard version P1-SUN reaches speeds of up to 310 km/h.

Representatives of SkyFall also told Reuters that, since November 2025, standard P1-SUNs had intercepted more than 5,500 Russian attack drones. The agency noted that it had been unable to independently verify this figure. There is no official confirmation that Japan has procured the P1-SUN or JetKiller.

Tokyo is examining Ukraine’s defence innovation cycle

A Japanese minister described Ukraine’s experience in the use of unmanned systems in modern warfare as unique. He highlighted the rapid feedback loop between the deployment of such technology on the battlefield and its refinement by manufacturers.

According to Koizumi, Ukrainian companies are capable of unveiling drones with new specifications every two to three weeks. He described this pace of adaptation as an important example for the development of Japan’s defence-industrial complex, industrial base and defence capabilities.

Support for Ukraine and restrictions on the transfer of arms

At the same press conference, Koizumi stated that Japan had no plans to supply Ukraine with weapons that fall under the relevant provisions of the legislation governing the Self-Defence Forces. Nor did he announce any plans for the direct supply of Patriot missiles.

At the same time, Tokyo continues to supply Ukraine with authorised equipment, transport and body armour, and is also taking in wounded Ukrainian servicemen. The contract with SkyFall has already been confirmed, although the financial terms and the timeframe for its implementation remain undisclosed.
