Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned that Ukraine will respond to Russian attacks if Moscow refuses to agree to an energy ceasefire this winter. The head of state also drew attention to the fact that there were no fires at Russian oil refineries last night. The statement came against the backdrop of negotiations to halt mutual strikes on energy infrastructure and a report by US President Donald Trump that an agreement had allegedly been reached between Kyiv and Moscow. Ukraine confirms its readiness for a truce, but insists on mutual compliance.

Zelenskyy warned Russia of the consequences of rejecting the ceasefire

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia’s refusal to energy truce during the winter period will not go unanswered by the Ukrainian side. According to the head of state, Ukraine is prepared to refrain from strikes against Russian energy infrastructure if Moscow fulfils similar obligations.

The President also emphasised that Last night, there were no fires at Russian oil refineries. He made this statement against the backdrop of discussions on a mutual cessation of attacks.

At the same time, the mere fact that there were no attacks on the oil refinery during the course of a single night does not in itself mean that a full-scale energy ceasefire has come into effect.

Kyiv’s position is that any agreements must apply to both sides and provide for a genuine cessation of attacks.
