Floods in Vietnam kill at least 90 people, destroy more than 186,000 homes
At least 90 people were killed, more 12 are reported missing in Vietnam after several days of heavy rains that caused massive flooding and landslides. This was reported by the country's government.
The disaster affected mainly the central and northern regions. Powerful water flows breached dams, flooded residential areas and demolished roads and bridges.
According to the authorities, 186 thousand homes were damaged or completely destroyed. Extremely large losses in agriculture have also been reported: more than three million head of cattle washed off with water.
Rescue services continue to search for missing people and evacuate people from dangerous areas. The Vietnamese government warns that the death toll could rise due to new forecasted rainfall.
