«I'm going to the frontline» - Yermak after his dismissal
Former Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak after his release, said he was going to the frontline. He said this in an interview with New York Post, commenting on political events and his own decision.
What Yermak said
In a conversation with journalists, Yermak sharply assessed the events surrounding his release and called them unfair:
«I was disgraced and my dignity was not protected, despite the fact that I have been in Kyiv since 24 February 2022.
That's why I don't want to create problems for Zelensky - I'm going to the front.
I am an honest and decent person. I served Ukraine and was in Kyiv on 24 February 2022.
Perhaps we will see each other again. Glory to Ukraine».
Background
Yermak was dismissed yesterday by presidential order. This happened against the backdrop of:
- investigative actions in the Midas case«
- media reports about the preparation of suspicions against him
- a large-scale personnel reset in the Presidential Office
His decision to go to the front was his first public statement after his suspension.
Context.
Yermak has been head of the Presidential Office since 2020 and was one of Zelenskyy's closest political allies. After the outbreak of full-scale war, he remained in Kyiv and coordinated international affairs and security negotiations.
