The last 10 metres of negotiations remain the most difficult - US President Donald Trump's special envoy Keith Kellogg
Special Representative of the President of the United States Keith Kellogg said that the peace agreement on Ukraine is in its final phase. According to him, the parties have already covered «90% of the way», but the «last 10 metres» remain the most difficult.
Kellogg stressed that at the final stage of negotiations, key differences remain that require additional consultations between the US, Ukraine and partners.
Unresolved issues
Despite significant progress, several critical points remain open:
Control over Zaporizhzhya NPP - The mechanism of the plant's management and safety guarantees are discussed.
Status of the Donetsk region - Discussions continue on the formula for controlling the territories and future administrative mechanisms.
According to the sources, both issues are «red lines» for the parties, which complicates the finalisation of the agreements.
Context.
The US delegation insists that the agreement must guarantee Ukraine's long-term security and prevent any repeated aggressive actions by Russia. Kyiv, for its part, is assessing the risks and insisting on conditions that do not contradict national interests and international law.
