Strike on Odesa: infrastructure damaged, two wounded

On the night of 12 January, Russian troops attacked Odesa. This was announced by the head of the Odesa City Military Administration Sergey Lysak.

According to him, the enemy attack damaged an infrastructure facility. There is no electricity supply in part of one of the city's districts. Two people have been reported injured.


The extent of the damage

According to local authorities:

  • one private residential building was destroyed;

  • Four more houses were damaged;

  • a damaged critical infrastructure facility;

  • part of the district was left without electricity.

Emergency services are working at the scene, and the extent of the damage and the condition of the victims is being clarified.


Government response

Sergey Lysak noted that the relevant services are involved in the aftermath of the attack, and power engineers are working to restore power supply. The city authorities urge residents to follow safety rules and respond to air raid warnings.


Context.

Odesa region is regularly targeted by missile and drone attacks from Russia. The main targets are energy and port infrastructure, as well as residential buildings. In winter, attacks on the energy system create additional risks to stable electricity and heat supply in the region.
