Rada to consider ban on nicotine pouches criticised by military
The Verkhovna Rada may consider a bill to ban nicotine spiders, which is not supported by some in the military. This was reported by Ukrmedia News.
According to them, such products are of practical importance to the military during their service.
Arguments of the military
The military notes that nicotine pouches do not create smoke or glow, so they do not disguise positions, unlike traditional cigarettes.
That is why, according to them, a complete ban could create additional inconveniences for soldiers in the field.
Possible budgetary losses
It is estimated that if the ban is introduced next year, the state budget may lose more than UAH 1 billion in tax revenues.
At the same time, the Parliament has not yet made a final decision on the draft law.
Context.
The debate over the regulation of nicotine pouches continues against the backdrop of the government's overall policy of restricting tobacco and nicotine products.
Experts expect that MPs will weigh both public health and security sector arguments when considering the document.
