For the first time, a new sub-variant of the COVID-19 coronavirus called Cicada has been recorded in Ukraine. This was reported by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The ministry does not rule out the possibility of strengthening anti-epidemic measures in case of an increase in the incidence.

According to the Ministry of Health, «Cicada» is a new sub-variant of COVID-19 that has already begun to spread among the population. Epidemiologists are currently studying its characteristics, including the rate of transmission and severity of the disease.
