New tasks for Ukrainian intelligence
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian intelligence and the Defence Forces had been ordered to take pre-emptive action. This applies to facilities that Russia is using to wage war. «I have ordered our intelligence services and army to take pre-emptive action against those facilities that the Russians are using to escalate the war,» Zelenskyy emphasised.
Russia’s reaction to the strikes
Zelenskyy noted that regular strikes are forcing Russia to concentrate its air defence resources around key targets. Additional systems AIR DEFENCE are being redeployed to Moscow, the Crimean Bridge and other strategic targets, thereby weakening the defences of other regions of the country.
Economic problems in the Russian Federation
The President also highlighted the serious consequences of the war for the Russian economy. Fuel shortage It has already spread to more than 60 regions in Russia, and petrol prices continue to rise. Furthermore, the Russian authorities are reportedly considering postponing or cancelling the United Russia party’s internal elections for the State Duma.
Why it matters
The President’s statement indicates Ukraine’s intention to continue stepping up pressure on Russia’s military and logistical infrastructure. In Kyiv, it is believed that it is the Kremlin’s refusal to engage in genuine peace talks that is leading to an escalation of hostilities and forcing Ukraine to take pre-emptive measures to defend its own territory.
