Significant increase in payments for the military
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a major reform of the army, which provides for a significant increase in the salaries of military personnel. As reported by Ukrmedia, From now on, military personnel in the rear will receive at least 30 thousand hryvnias per month. For infantrymen, the amounts are significantly higher - from 250 to 400 thousand hryvnias, depending on the level of participation in combat operations, experience and efficiency of performing tasks.
The increase in payments is intended not only to improve the financial situation of the military, but also to increase their motivation to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A special emphasis is placed on the infantry, which carries the greatest burden on the front line.
New contracts and changes in equipment
As part of the reforms the introduction of special contracts for infantrymen with payments ranging from UAH 250,000 to 400,000. The army recruitment system will also undergo changes: contract service will be strengthened and clear terms of service for the military will be introduced.
Already this year, it is planned to start a phased demobilisation of previously mobilised soldiers, which will allow for a renewal of the Armed Forces and provide more predictable conditions of service for recruits.
Focus on combat units
The reform particularly concerns combat units, especially infantry. Special contracts with significantly higher payments are envisaged for this category of military personnel, depending on the performance of combat missions, the level of participation in combat, experience and efficiency.
This system will not only keep those already serving on the front line motivated, but also attract new candidates for contract service. The innovations will help improve the combat capability and professionalism of the units.
Why it matters
The introduction of the new payment and contract system is a response to the need to support the Ukrainian military, which is defending the country in a full-scale war. Increase in cash collateral will be a significant factor in maintaining morale and attracting new soldiers to the Armed Forces.
Clear terms of service and gradual demobilisation of those mobilised will make military service more predictable and attractive. This will contribute to the formation of a professional army and ensure the stability of Ukraine's defence capabilities.
