President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the deployment of foreign troops on the contact line would make it very dangerous for Russia to start a new war. He stressed that only international support can effectively deter Russian aggression.
The presence of foreign troops as a deterrent
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the deployment of foreign troops, bases and international representatives on the contact line is a key deterrent for Russia. According to him, Moscow fears such support from Ukraine's partners.
The President emphasised that the absence of international presence could lead to further escalation - no diplomatic statements will stop it Putin from further aggressive actions.
The role of world leaders in ending the war
Zelenskyy noted that influential countries should not only be mediators, but should openly declare Putin's responsibility for the war. He stressed that compromise dialogues do not work if the aggressor does not admit its guilt.
The President of Ukraine called on the leaders of the United States, China, India and other countries to directly address Putin with a demand to end the war, rather than shifting the responsibility to Ukraine.
Ukraine is defending itself, not attacking
Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine is acting as a defending party, not an aggressor. He stressed that the international community should clearly understand this position and not demand that Kyiv stop the war, as it is Russia that initiated the conflict.
The President added that only joint actions of the international community could force Putin to stop his aggression against Ukraine.
