Dexter finds himself caught between two serial killers
The official synopsis for the second series reveals the central conflict of the new season. Dexter Morgan finds himself caught between two dangerous adversaries. One is a seasoned killer with a long history of crime; the other is a newcomer who is beginning to strike fear into the heart of New York.
One of the main antagonists will be played by Brian Cox, best known for *The Heirs*. His character, Don Framth, is nicknamed the «New York Ripper». According to Entertainment Weekly, he is a former underground worker who, following an accident, is confined to a wheelchair but continues to psychologically terrorise the families of his victims.
The second major rival will be the character Dena Stevens, known as the Five Borough Killer. Judging by the trailer, his appearance affects Dexter not only professionally: the new killer quickly gains notoriety, sparking a peculiar rivalry in the protagonist.
Harrison is getting even closer to the police
A separate storyline this season will once again focus on Harrison, played by Jack Alcott. Paramount+ notes that Dexter’s son will continue his own quest for justice, whilst father and son will enter the «darkest chapter» of their history.
The trailer also reveals that Harrison is becoming increasingly involved in the police investigation. Entertainment Weekly reports that Detective Claudette Wallace enlists him and his new partner, Fiona Mixon, to keep an eye on a suspect, a New York butcher. For Dexter, the situation is becoming particularly dangerous: his son is, in effect, caught up in a system that could have exposed Dexter himself at any moment throughout his life.
Who will be returning in the second series?
Alongside Michael S. Hall, the following actors will be returning to the series Uma Thurman, Jack Alcott, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwaine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Desmond Harrington and James Remar.
Dan Stevens, Bokim Woodbine, Nona Parker Johnson and Brian Cox have joined the main cast for the second series. Kristen Ritter will return as a guest star, and Gabrielle Luna will also be joining the series.
