On the afternoon of 29 October, reports emerged of a new Russian attack on Chernihiv. According to preliminary information, the strike targeted the central part of the city. Two people are reported to have been killed and two injured. According to local news channels, the shelling damaged retail premises and set cars alight. There are also reports of two Russian «Banderole» drones heading towards the city.
Reports of explosions and fires in the centre of Chernihiv
According to preliminary reports, Russian troops have launched an attack on the centre of Chernihiv.
Local TV channels are reporting damage to retail premises and car fires.
Reports of the attack mention two fatalities and at least two injured. However, at the time of writing, these figures could not be confirmed by statements from the Chernihiv Regional State Administration, the city’s military administration or the State Emergency Service.
Russia has already attacked Chernihiv with «Bandera rockets»
The day before, on 28 October, Russian troops attacked Chernihiv a «Bandero» drone. The «Step Towards Animals» municipal veterinary and sterilisation centre was then hit.
According to the police, three women aged 18, 40 and 59 were injured. A dog was also killed, whilst another dog and three cats were injured.
Russian drones of this type have previously been used to carry out strikes on other civilian targets in the city.
