On the night of 21–22 September, Russia launched a large-scale combined attack on central regions of Ukraine using various types of missiles and drones. Industrial facilities in Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih and Pavlohrad were hit, as were an industrial site and critical infrastructure in the Poltava region. In Dnipro, the death toll has risen to four, with a further six people injured.

Four people have died in Dnipro; the search for one person is continuing
The most severe consequences of the night-time attack were recorded in Dnipro. According to the latest information from the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration Oleksandra Ganzhi, four people were killed. Rescue workers are continuing their search for another employee of the company who was struck by the impact.
More six people were injured. Two of the injured have been taken to hospital; a 25-year-old man is in a serious condition.
A factory and some warehouses in the city have been damaged. Large-scale fires broke out following the strikes.
Kryvyi Rih was attacked with ballistic and cruise missiles
At the same time, Russian forces struck an industrial facility in Kryvyi Rih. The head of the city’s Defence Council, Oleksandr Vilkul, reported that during the attack, Russia used ballistic and cruise missiles of various types. According to him, there has been damage to the plant as a result of the strike, but there have been no fatalities or injuries in Kryvyi Rih.
An industrial facility was also attacked in Pavlohrad. The Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration reported fires following strikes in all three towns in the region.
The Poltava region also came under heavy attack
The Russian attack lasted several hours and also extended into the Poltava region. In Kremenchuk District An industrial plant and a critical infrastructure site were attacked. According to the Air Force, repeated incidents were recorded throughout the night ballistic missile launches towards Kremenchuk.
In the Poltava district, a Russian drone crashed on the premises of a private agricultural enterprise. A farm building and agricultural machinery were damaged. According to the Poltava Regional State Administration, No one was injured as a result of these strikes.
Russia has used various types of missiles and more than 200 drones
The Air Force reported that, on the night of 22 September, Russia carried out a large-scale combined air strike.
Russian forces used:
- «Onyx» anti-ship missiles;
- Iskander-M ballistic missiles, S-400s and KN-23s;
- four «Kalibr» cruise missiles;
- eight «Banderole» loitering munitions/«Dan-T»;
- 212 attack and other drones, including Shahed, «Gerbera», jet-powered drones and decoys.
As of 08:00, air defence forces had shot down or neutralised 186 aerial targets: one «Kalibr», eight «Banderole» and 177 drones.
At the same time, the Air Force recorded missile and drone strikes at 22 locations, whilst the debris from downed targets caused damage to a further four.
The consequences of the attack are still being assessed
Rescue operations in Dnipro are continuing. Searches are underway for an employee trapped under the rubble of a damaged factory, so the final death toll from the attack may change. In other cities that were attacked, the emergency services are clearing up the aftermath of the strikes and fires.
