On the night of 19 August, Russia launched a massive combined strike on the Kyiv region. In the Brovary district, a 60-year-old man was killed and at least eight people were injured. The Boryspil and Brovary districts sustained significant damage, with fires breaking out in both areas, whilst law enforcement officers are documenting the aftermath of the attack for criminal investigations.

Damaged houses, warehouses and petrol stations in the Boryspil district
At least 14 private residential properties have been damaged in the Boryspil district, four warehouse buildings, a petrol station, a multi-storey building and eight cars. Six people were injured in the area.
Four of them were admitted to hospital with shrapnel wounds and lacerations. Medical staff are providing them with the necessary treatment.
A man has died in the Brovary district; fires broke out following the explosions
A 60-year-old man was killed in the Brovary district as a result of a Russian strike. Two other people were injured.
An industrial facility was also damaged. Following the strikes and the fall of debris, fires broke out at fuel infrastructure facilities, in warehouses, private homes and cars.
Kyiv and the surrounding region were the main targets of the night-time attack
According to the Air Force, Russia deployed ballistic and aeroballistic munitions, cruise missiles and air-to-ground missiles, «Kalibr» missiles, «Banderole» loitering munitions and 168 attack and other drones. Almost half of the Shahed drones deployed were jet-powered.
As of 09:30, air defence forces reported that they had destroyed or intercepted 31 X-101, «Iskander-K» and X-59 cruise missiles, eight «Kalibr» missiles, two «Banderola» missiles and 145 drones. Across Ukraine, air strikes were recorded at 28 locations, with debris falling at a further two.
Investigators are documenting the aftermath of the strike and gathering evidence
Prosecutors, investigators, rescue workers, bomb disposal experts, medical staff and other emergency services are working at the scene. They are inspecting the damaged sites, documenting the damage caused by the strikes and gathering evidence.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched pre-trial investigations under Parts 1 and 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code — breaches of the laws and customs of war. Law enforcement agencies are continuing to compile a list of damaged sites, so the latest figures on the destruction and casualties may change.
