Omega Telecom’s main technical hub has been destroyed
Following the attack on Kyiv, the company announced that the complete destruction of the equipment at its main technical facility. It was through this route that part of the operator’s critical telecommunications infrastructure ran.
The published footage shows a severely damaged building: burnt-out equipment, destroyed metal structures and signs of a major fire. Following the attack, technical teams began urgently reconfiguring data transmission routes, rerouting traffic and launching services at other sites.
Internet and communication channels are being switched to backup sites
At present, the company’s main priority is to restore stable operation of communication channels and internet access. To this end, services are being moved to backup locations and traffic is being rerouted via alternative paths. This kind of backup arrangement allows operators to maintain at least some of their services even after the main node has been physically destroyed.
Omega Telecom has not yet given a precise timeframe for a full recovery. The scale of the work depends not only on the replacement of server and network equipment, but also on the condition of the fibre-optic lines and the power supply, as well as the possibility of returning some of the systems to the main site.
