Russian attack destroyed the EVA network’s sorting centre in Odessa, which was responsible for supplying goods to shops in three southern regions of Ukraine. The strike took place on 13 September at around 09:00, the company reported. No staff at the site were injured. EVA is currently assessing the extent of the damage and is working to minimise the impact on the operation of its shops in the Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.

The EVA sorting centre served the entire southern region
According to the company, a Russian missile attack took place 13 September at around 09:00. As a result of the strike, the EVA sorting centre in Odesa was destroyed.
It was from this facility that goods were delivered to the chain’s shops in In the Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. Consequently, the loss of the centre directly affects the EVA logistics chain in the south of the country.
The chain specialises primarily in cosmetics, personal care products, household cleaning products and related goods. Consequently, following the destruction of the premises, there may be temporary difficulties with the supply of certain items to shops in the region.
At the same time EVA has not yet announced any widespread shortages or shop closures.
EVA has stated that it is trying to avoid disruptions
The company stated that an assessment of the extent of the damage is currently underway. EVA assures that it is doing everything in its power to minimise the impact of the loss of the sorting centre on shops in the southern region.
The company had previously reported that its logistics system was supported by distribution centres in Dnipro, Brovary and Lviv, as well as sorting centres in Odesa and Kharkiv. The Odesa facility was specifically used to supply goods to shops.
The company can therefore redirect some of its supply flows via other logistics centres and direct deliveries from suppliers.
This is the second major blow to EVA’s logistics operations in a month
The destruction of the centre in Odessa dealt yet another serious blow to the network’s logistics infrastructure.
On 18 August, the Russian The attack destroyed the EVA distribution centre in Brovary, which supplied shops throughout Ukraine. According to preliminary estimates by the chain’s co-owner, Ruslan Shostak, the losses from that single strike alone could have amounted to around 1 billion UAH.
Following the attack in Brovary, the company swiftly reorganised its logistics and stated that this had enabled it to avoid widespread disruption to stock levels in its shops.
EVA will now have to change its supply arrangements once again — this time in southern Ukraine.
Russia is stepping up its attacks on Ukrainian depots
The destruction of the EVA centre is taking place against the backdrop of a series of Russian strikes on Ukraine’s logistics infrastructure.
In Odesa and the surrounding region alone, Russian attacks in recent weeks have damaged or destroyed warehouses, terminals and other business premises. On 14 September, it also emerged that a warehouse belonging to one of the country’s largest pharmaceutical distributors — the company «BaDM» — had been struck.
For EVA, the main challenge following the loss of its Odessa hub will be to quickly redirect its cargo flows. There is currently no talk of a guaranteed shortage of cosmetics or household cleaning products, although there may be temporary shortages of certain items in shops in the southern regions whilst the company reorganises its logistics.
