A drone struck a bus carrying passengers directly

The Nikopol region is constantly under attack from the Russian Federation
Nikopol district is regularly coming under attack from Russian FPV drones, artillery and other unmanned aerial vehicles.
It was only on the night of 16 September that Russian troops attacked Nikopol and the Marganetsk community. An apartment block in the district centre was damaged, but there were no fatalities or injuries.
Early that morning, a Russian attack had far more serious consequences — civilian vehicles carrying people were hit.
Russia has repeatedly targeted buses in the area
This is not the first Russian attack on passenger transport in the Nikopol district. In April 2026, a Russian FPV drone attacked a city bus in the centre of Nikopol. Four people were killed and dozens were injured.
In August, Russian drones also carried out repeated attacks on long-distance coaches and local minibuses in the Nikopol district. The police classified these attacks as violations of the laws and customs of war.
The latest attack on 16 September was one of the deadliest attacks on civilian transport in the area in recent times.
